broken links when using https://

Hi,
My reports are hosted on a secure website (SSL). Most of the pages
appear just fine, but the 4 links in the top-right corner of the screen
("Home", "My Subscriptions", "Site Settings", "Help") are broken as
they are referring to pages using http:// when of course they should be
using https://
For example, the HTML for the "My Subscriptions" link looks like this:
<a
href="http://links.10026.com/?link=http://dub-mis-001/Reports/Pages/Subscriptions.aspx">My Subscriptions</a>
But it should look like this:
<a
href="http://links.10026.com/?link=https://dub-mis-001/Reports/Pages/Subscriptions.aspx">My Subscriptions</a>
I'm aware that this porblem has been mentioned a number of times
previously in this group, but nobody seems to have a solution?
Is there way I can "change" the HTML that is generated so that the
links use https:// or relative addressing?
Best Wishes,
DonAlternatively, is there any way to remove these links?
Cheers,
Don

Broken Images and Charts in Deployed Reports

Hi all,
Does anyone know why on some installations of RS, using the Reports Viewer
(http://localhost/Reports/), all images and charts appear to be broken, but
if exported, work fine. Using ReportServer works, but its not very
user-friendly for our clients.
I only read a couple of posts about this issue, but couldnt find an answer.
Some people said that if you enable Allow All Cookie's in IE, it works... but
why then is this problem only occuring on some installations of RS?
The one major differance I can point out is that it seams that broken images
only occur on Servers (Win2003) but not on development (XP) computers... Is
this as simple as an IIS issue, or security perhaps?
Please help! I'm sure there are many others with the same issue!
Thanks,
AndreAnswer is simple, and stupid...
IE does block the cookies from the RS website for some reason.
There are two fixes I know.
1) Inform anyone using RS to find the security icon at the bottom of IE and
right click it and allow Cookies from that site.
2) Inform anyone using RS to go to IE security and turn of automatic
handling of cookies and allow all cookies... I dont think this is quite hte
best idea though.

BrightStor ArcServe Question

I have a strange problem that seemed to appear around 4 days ago.
We are running SQL2000 on a Windows 2003 Server machine - fully updated by
Microsoft Windows Updates. The machine is running BrightStor ArcServe 11.0
and SQL agent and BAOF agent.
My backups are scehduled to run every evening at 18:30. However, after 10
minutes (after backing up the Registry and System State) the job crashes with
E8604.
I updated the product with a patch off the CASupportConnect site, to deal
with the SQL Agent. This was yesterday afternoon when I applied the patch
and rebooted. I did a test backup (C drive and a SQL database and it worked
fine). Last nights backup crashed (as mentioned above). However, when I ran
the job manually the backup worked fine.
It seems that I am only getting the problem on scheduled jobs. The backups
have been going on everyday for several months, and this is a new one for me.
Can someone help?
The machine it is running on is a Dell PE4600 with an LTO2 PowerVault 110T
Internal tape drive. The BrightStor ArcServe version is v11.0. Build is
2670.
The patch I installed yesterday was the QO70769.CAZ.
Please help!

Hi
Are you backing up to tape directly or to disc and t hen tape?
What are your scheduled jobs doing?
Which version of SQL Server is this?

Brackets appear in column name

I am using Enterprise Manager to create database tables. In the table design view I am trying to create a column called, section. After typing, section, Enterprise Manager automatically puts brackets around the name, ex. [section]. When I view the table by returning all rows the brackets are gone. However, when I go back to desing view the brackets are there. Why is this happening and what affect does it have on my database?

Thanks,

Matt

That is 'normal' and expected behavior when your table or column names contain spaces or other 'invalid' characters.

SQL Server, unlike Access you may have been using, does not allow the use of spaces in object (tables, columns, etc.) names. You will always have to use those 'pesky' square brackets when you write any SQL code specifying the improperly named items.

Other than the extra work always having to use the square brackets when writing code, there is no discernable impact on the database. The database assigns an 'ObjectID' to all tables, columns, etc., and internally, it uses the ObjectID.

Arnie,

The column name I am trying to use is, section, with no spaces but Enterprise Manager is automatically putting the brackets on. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Matt

I should have included that square brackets are also included around 'reserved words' when used as object names.

You may wish to examine the 'reserved word' list in Books Online, and then avoid using any reserved words in your object names.

As I indicated before, if EM adds the square brackets, you will also be required to also use square brackets (or double quotes) when referring to those improperly named objects.

Arnie,

I found the word, section, in the Books Online. It is an ODBC reserved word. Thanks for the help,
